It has a well-planned network of ski lifts and gondola, a ski and snowboard school, a ski resort for stays and good connectivity to Almaty. The ski slopes are connected by road and gondola from Medeu to Shymbulak. The 4.5 km long gondola is the third longest in the world. Shymbulak is located in the picturesque canyon of Zailiysky Alatau at an altitude of 2260 meters above sea level. It offers a lot of skiing hours and skiing runs and one can pick up the sport in 5-6 days with a dedicated team of instructors. Shymbulak also offers night skiing in floodlights in sub-zero temperatures which makes it a unique experience.
